About H2O Guitar Pickups.Hello and welcome. A little about myself and my lovely wife that helps me run this place. I got the winding itch back about 1999. I had no idea what I was doing but I knew I wanted to learn everything I could about pickups. I went out and found some wire from an old electronics guy who just happened to have a couple of rolls of 42 guage wire and a small bit of 43. I then set out to obtain old pickups that were bad not working etc... I found those by way of guitar stores. One store had a box full and said here take em. I went about taking them apart, measuring everything, studying the assembly, the magnets, how things were situated, every little detail including unwinding them and counting each turn, doing the math to see what ratios you could get with certain tpl etc... When I say I studied them I literally ate slept and dreamed pickups. I made my first sale in 2001 to a local guy and did my first rewind for a music store. I was off and running. I used an old singer sewing machine for years, then built a new winder still hand winding, no automation at all. The machine simply spins the bobbin, I hand guide and tension by hand, every pickup every time. I talked to all the greats at the time, Bill Lawrence RIP, Seymour Duncan, Lindy Fralin and Jason Lollar to name a few. I got some very valuable information from them and I am very grateful I was able to even speak to them. Long story short, I've sold pickups to almost every country in the world. I love winding pickups and to hear a customer tell me how much they love their new pickups is the reason I do this.
